La voix humaine (The Human Voice), FP 171
We humans need the human voice, scent, sound, and warmth. Having passed through the pandemic, a time when we felt more disconnected than ever, we now live in another kind of isolation. An era where we are more connected through screens, yet unable to touch someone's warmth. Within this context, we revisit "La Voix Humaine" (The Human Voice), a one-woman opera composed by French composer Francis Poulenc. This opera delicately portrays the psychological state—anxiety, obsession, and delusion—of a woman having a final phone conversation with her lover who has left her. We are convinced that this woman's story is the story of all of us today, and we wish to share this work with our audience.
