[PERFORMANCE INTRODUCTION]
The opening production on Saturday, July 4th is 'Three Days' at Open Theater. This is an original opera based on true events, combining the strengths of musical theater, theatrical drama, and operatic grandeur.
'Three Days' is set in December 1950 during the Korean War, on the eve of the Hungnam evacuation. Myungbok leaves to find a truck for his family's escape but never returns, while his heavily pregnant wife Sunyoung leads the family on their journey to safety. Meanwhile, Jingu is forcibly taken on the evacuation route by friends, separated from his fiancée Myungshin.
As only the Meredith, the last escape ship, remains at Hungnam Port, refugees in this desperate situation cling to their final hope for survival. This is a story about family survival narratives—whether families and lovers scattered by the horrors of war can reunite, and whether the countless refugees can safely embark on their journey toward freedom.
Directed by Lee Hye-kyung and written by Kim Na-young, the cast includes Hong Geum-dan, Choi Young-min, Park Moo-young, Kim Ryu-ha, Kim Ga-ram, Ahn Ji-hoo, Baek Geun-woo, Lee Seop-jeong, Lee Tae-ho, and Jang Jae-hwa. Conductor Na Shil-in leads the orchestra.
