[PERFORMANCE INTRODUCTION]
Harmonica & Harpsichord Baroque Ensemble
The uniquely composed Harmonica & Harpsichord Baroque Ensemble, featuring harmonica virtuoso Lee Yun-seok, harpsichordist Song Eun-joo, and countertenor Jang Jung-kwon, presents a fresh interpretation and expansion of Baroque music. Harmonica virtuoso Lee Yun-seok graduated summa cum laude from Seoul National University's Composition Department and was the first graduate of the harmonica major program at the Norwegian Academy of Music, actively performing on the international stage. Harpsichordist Song Eun-joo was the first Korean to complete the highest-level harpsichord performance course at the University of Music and Performing Arts Vienna (Universität für Musik und darstellende Kunst Wien). Countertenor Jang Jung-kwon continues his extensive career spanning Germany and the UK, winning international competitions and performing on opera stages. By combining their distinct musical backgrounds and expertise, they present a new musical endeavor that reinterprets Baroque music with a contemporary sensibility.
This performance is an experimental stage where different instruments, periods, and modes of expression converge in unified harmony—a fresh attempt to reinterpret Baroque music through a modern lens. The organic resonance created by the harmonica, harpsichord, and the human voice vividly reveals music's inherent power of healing and purification, offering audiences a time of profound reflection and emotional inspiration.
