About

[PERFORMANCE INTRODUCTION] Berklee Superband is a special stage featuring musicians and faculty from Berklee College of Music, a world-renowned music education institution in the United States. This performance brings together jazz tradition and contemporary sensibility, combined with international musical exchange, offering audiences a high-caliber performance experience and diverse musical offerings that showcase the broad appeal of jazz. First, the Daejeon Berklee Alumni Jazz Band takes the stage. Composed of musicians from Berklee College of Music, this band presents diverse repertoire spanning jazz, Latin, and fusion music, conveying the free-spirited energy and refined sensibility unique to jazz. Additionally, The Ray, an R&B vocalist and cast member of TV Chosun's Mr. Trot 2 who has garnered much love from audiences, joins the performance to create a special stage that transcends the boundary between jazz and popular music. Following this, the International Jazz Ensemble featuring renowned American saxophonist Chris Cheek, trumpeter Philip Grenadier (professor at Berklee College of Music), and Korea's top-tier jazz musicians takes the stage. The deep communication and improvisation created by musicians with different cultural backgrounds and musical languages showcase the essential charm of jazz and enrich the significance of international musical exchange. This performance goes beyond a simple concert to connect the world and local communities through music and create a space for artistic exchange that encompasses generations and cultures. This stage, created by domestic and international musicians on the common educational foundation of Berklee College of Music, will be a meaningful time that sheds new light on the creativity and freedom inherent in jazz and the value of communication through music.
