[ABOUT THE PERFORMANCE]
Raon Muse Ensemble was founded in 2020, combining "Raon" (meaning "joyful") with "Muse," the muse of the arts, to represent "a gathering of musicians who share joyful music." Since its establishment, the ensemble has presented regular concerts and diverse collaborative performances, showcasing a wide repertoire and creative productions while conveying both the depth of classical music and its accessible charm to audiences.
This fifth regular concert,
, is a special program centered on piano concertos. The grand resonance created by orchestra and piano is newly reimagined in a piano and string arrangement, shedding delicate light on the brilliance and melodic beauty of the original compositions as well as the intimate musical rapport between performers.
The concert opens with Mozart's Concerto for Two Pianos in E♭ Major, K.365. The bright and elegant dialogue between two pianos conveys the balance and vitality of Classical music. This is followed by the first movement of Beethoven's Piano Concerto No. 5 "Emperor," which expands the stage with its grand scale and powerful energy, and the first movement of Chopin's Piano Concerto No. 1, which presents the lyricism of piano music with romantic melody and delicate sensibility. Finally, the first movement of Rachmaninoff's Piano Concerto No. 2 concludes the performance with rich emotion and dramatic flow.
Through this program, Raon Muse Ensemble aims to showcase new colors and possibilities of familiar piano concertos. The dense ensemble created by the interplay of piano and strings will provide audiences with a special opportunity to discover another dimension of beauty in these masterworks.
