[PERFORMANCE INTRODUCTION]
Pianist Sunwook Kim, who has maintained a special relationship with the Seoul Philharmonic Orchestra, makes a return visit to the orchestra as a conductor, following his debut on the regular concert stage in December 2022. The performance opens with Modest Mussorgsky's "Night on Bald Mountain," a work that leaves a striking impression with its rough-textured musical expression, followed by Maurice Ravel's Piano Concerto in G major. Alicja Sarah Ott, who gained recognition as a child prodigy in Germany and has established herself firmly on the international stage through her popular appeal, appears as the soloist for this radiant concerto. Conductor Sunwook Kim, who structured the second half of the October 2023 Seoul Philharmonic performance with works by Richard Strauss, has prepared Johannes Brahms' Symphony No. 2 for this occasion. Sunwook Kim, who has been consistently acclaimed as an outstanding Brahms interpreter throughout his career as a pianist and has continued to demonstrate his special affection for this composer since beginning his formal conducting career, promises to deliver a memorable Brahms performance with the Seoul Philharmonic Orchestra.
