[PERFORMANCE INTRODUCTION]
Die 12 Cellisten der Berliner Philharmoniker
July, twelve cellos and the romance of a midsummer night.
The Berlin Philharmonic's 12 Cellists, celebrating their 54th anniversary, return to the Korean stage for the first time in 26 years since last year.
Meeting with the twelve cellists of the Berlin Philharmonic is itself a gift, and the energy shared between the audience and performers becomes one unified experience.
Rather than individual soloists showcasing their own abilities, their greatest strength and characteristic lies in achieving balance through a flexible inner sound.
This balance is also reflected in their repertoire selections, allowing audiences to experience the unified stage of these twelve masters as a complete work in itself.
This performance features a diverse program spanning a wide range of eras and genres, from classical repertoire by Antonín Dvořák and Erik Satie to works by Edith Piaf and Ennio Morricone.
In addition to familiar classical works such as "Slavonic Dances" and "Gymnopédie," the program includes the chanson "Non, je ne regrette rien," "Sous le ciel de Paris," and film scores "Once upon a Time in America" and "Man with the Harmonica."
All pieces are newly reimagined as arrangements for twelve cellos, promising to deliver a depth and color distinctly different from the originals.
