By My Side, Classical: Mendelssohn and Bizet [Jeju]

[Performance Introduction] The Tenth Stage: Mendelssohn and Bizet Come to Your Side A monthly invitation to bring composers into our family. The tenth chapter of the 'Classics by My Side' series features Mendelssohn, who painted the enchanted forest of a midsummer night, and Bizet, who brought the passionate squares of Seville to the stage. At seventeen, the young Mendelssohn read Shakespeare's comedy and transformed the frolicking fairies of the forest into music. Bizet left behind the opera 'Carmen' at the end of his short thirty-six-year life. A cool German forest and the blazing Spanish sun. Though they lived in the same Romantic era, the landscapes these two artists painted are strikingly different. Accompanied by concert guide Woo Sang-im's commentary, violinist Jang Suk-rye, flutist Woo Ju-yeon, pianist Baek Seung-mi, and cellist Yang Hye-yeon will perform. This is a live performance where children will have their first encounter with classical music within arm's reach. A small stage, a big resonance. Mendelssohn and Bizet begin their performance by your side.
