Kevin Hays Solo Piano Concert
A Steinway Artist Shining with Grammy Awards!
A Special Solo Piano Concert Revisiting His 36-Year Career Since His 1990 Debut!
Pianist Kevin Hays made his debut in the New York jazz scene at age 22, releasing an album with jazz saxophone legend Joe Henderson. He has consistently showcased original and diverse performances through his distinctive sound that anyone can immediately recognize, deep expressiveness, melodic sensitivity, and sharp rhythmic sensibility.
In his early years performing in the New York jazz scene, he collaborated with jazz masters Sonny Rollins, Roy Haynes, and Joe Henderson, as well as contemporaries such as Joshua Redman, Chris Potter, and Kurt Rosenwinkel. Beyond these, he has worked with numerous musicians including Brad Mehldau, Lionel Loueke, and Stéphane Grapelli, demonstrating that while his music is deeply rooted in jazz tradition, he is not bound by fixed definitions of that tradition.
His fifth album and Blue Note debut "Seventh Sense," released in 1994, received critical acclaim from The New York Times. Subsequently, he released two more albums on the Blue Note label, and has released over 22 albums to date on various labels including Steeplechase, Palmetto Records, and Smoke Sessions Records.
In Korea, he performed at the Incheon Jazz Festival in 2008, but no significant subsequent performances have been recorded. In this solo piano concert with Kevin Hays, which audiences will experience for the first time in 18 years, you can witness his diverse artistry—featuring a repertoire that bridges tradition and modernity and demonstrating his exceptional virtuosity as a Steinway Artist.
If you haven't yet experienced his performance, if you're looking for a leading jazz pianist representing our era, now is the perfect opportunity to hear him live. Brad Mehldau called him a "true original"—it's time we turn our attention back to him.
