In the New York jazz scene where exceptional young jazz artists from around the world gather, everyone is looking for that new, young artist who brings the latest "buzz." Even Emmet Cohen himself said that when he asked people around him "who's the next young guy?" he was immediately introduced to Jacob Cheng. Born in 2000 and now 26 years old, he is currently a next-generation star performer showing the most outstanding potential. In 2024, he won "Best Soloist" at DownBeat magazine's student music edition, and with his smooth, stable tone even in rapid passages, he has already captured the attention of jazz fans. Meanwhile, for audiences interested in Indonesia's authentic jazz scene, Kevin Yosua is already a familiar name. Keeping the torch of authentic jazz burning steadily in Bali, Indonesia, he is the founder and curator of Legato Jazz Club and is breathing new life into Indonesia's jazz scene through the Legato Jazz Camp and Jazz Marathon. The Kevin Yosua Trio is a jazz ensemble led by bassist Kevin Yosua, featuring Hansen Arif on drums and Rio Manuel on piano. Pianist Rio Manuel, also born in 2000 like Jacob, is a rising star symbolizing the potential of Indonesia's authentic jazz scene, and his distinctive light and bouncy piano playing brings smiles and joy to everyone. Known for dynamic interaction and sophisticated interpretation, the Kevin Yosua Trio made history in 2025 by becoming the first Asian band to win the New Generation Jazz Lab competition held in Switzerland and performed at the Festival da Jazz St. Moritz.
