Korean National University of Arts Choral Conducting Department Song A-yeon & Koo Ye-ji Graduation Recital

[PERFORMANCE INTRODUCTION] The theme of this performance is 'Resonance'. Like the meaning of the word itself, we aim to capture the moment when a single voice begins to sound, meets with other voices to create harmony, and music from different eras resonates anew in today's space and within our hearts. The program begins with Giovanni Pierluigi da Palestrina's "Sicut Cervus" and Thomas Morley's "Now Is the Month of Maying," and continues through Felix Mendelssohn's "Psalm 115, Op. 31" and choral pieces from the oratorio "Elias, Op. 70," conveying the depth and beauty of choral music from the Renaissance through the Romantic era. Following this, Yoon Hak-joon's "Star Comes to You" offers the warmth and delicate resonance of Korean lyrics. In the second part, we present a diverse range of contemporary choral music through works by various composers including Elaine Hagenberg's "Alleluia," Han Soo-jeong's "Gloria," John Leavitt's "Sanctus," Jung Nam-gyu's "The Blessing," and Kevin A. Memley's "Ave Maria," showcasing rich orchestration and distinct colors. Finally, we perform Han Tae-ho's "A Long Journey," sharing with the audience the resonance that has been created together through listening to one another's voices during this long journey. We hope that this performance, created through the harmonious blend of two conductors' distinct musical interpretations and the chorus' voices, will resonate not only on stage but also linger long in the hearts of our audience.
