Kwak Ji-seung Flute Recital

[PERFORMANCE INTRODUCTION] Flutist Kwak Ji-seung will hold a flute recital on November 25th at 7:30 PM at the Recital Hall of the Seoul Arts Center. This performance connects different eras and musical styles through the singular voice of the flute, showcasing a wide-ranging repertoire from the lyricism of Romanticism to elaborate ballet music and even the sensibilities of jazz. Notably, Kwak Ji-seung will perform Dvořák's "Songs My Mother Taught Me" and Tchaikovsky's "Waltz of the Flowers" in arrangements he has personally created for flute and piano. These two works, well-known as vocal and orchestral pieces, will be reimagined to suit the delicate tone and expressive capabilities of the flute, allowing audiences to experience the lyricism and colors of the original compositions in a new light. This will be complemented by Franck's "Sonata in A Major," which showcases the essence of profound Romantic music. In the latter half of the performance, Claude Bolling's "Suite for Flute and Jazz Piano Trio" will expand the stage's atmosphere further. This work, which combines classical flute with a jazz trio, will feature pianist Park Jun-hyung, double bassist Yoo Isaac, and percussionist Jung Se-yun, presenting diverse rhythms and ensemble work. This recital will demonstrate the broad musical possibilities of the flute through not only Kwak Ji-seung's interpretation of classical repertoire but also his original arrangements and experimentation with various instrumental combinations.
