Lecture Concert III. Latin Classical Music [Gongju]

[PERFORMANCE INTRODUCTION] A Time That Expands from Listening to Understanding The lecture concert is an educational concert that explores various music genres—from Baroque and Romantic classical music to opera, musical, Latin classical (tango), and jazz—through expert commentary and live performance. It unfolds the birth and background of each genre, its history, and the composer's representative works in an easy and entertaining way. Centered around popular pieces, it provides a multidimensional experience that can be enjoyed by everyone from beginners to enthusiasts of each genre. Four independent performances are organically connected to help audiences naturally understand and travel through the vast world of music. The performance is structured so that audiences can feel music more intimately in their everyday lives. Through coffee and cookies provided before the performance, as well as entertaining and engaging commentary and performances, we aim to present the audience with a special morning. [PROGRAM] We explore Piazzolla's musical journey, which attempted to combine traditional tango with classical music, and discuss the charm of the bandoneon, known as the heart of tango. Oblivion Adios Nonino Libertango We introduce the origins of tango that began in the slums of Buenos Aires in the early 20th century, its golden age, and its development into a worldwide musical genre.
