[PERFORMANCE INTRODUCTION] The series highlights the composers who led the history of salon concerts and their songs. In this concert, we recreate the salon of Gioachino Rossini, an Italian composer who laid the foundation for Romantic opera in the early 19th century and led the music world of his time. Rossini, a superstar of the opera world at that time, declared his sudden retirement at the age of 37, leaving behind some 30 opera works. Afterward, he spent his remaining years composing only a small amount of religious works and short pieces. During this period, the Saturday salon he held in Paris became tremendously popular. We invite you to take a time travel to his salon through songs by Rossini, who spent his later years with cooking, music, and friends, as well as songs by his friends and junior colleagues.
