About

[PERFORMANCE INTRODUCTION] Blue Note, as a jazz record label, holds tremendous symbolic significance for jazz enthusiasts both in terms of popular appeal and artistic achievement. Paul Cornish, a promising pianist ambitiously signed by Blue Note, is currently performing in the band of Joshua Redman, a master of modern American saxophone. His debut album was released by Blue Note in 2025. Multiple media outlets have praised his debut album , noting that Blue Note once again demonstrates its keen eye for discovering fresh and innovative new artists. The Financial Times evaluated the combination of Blue Note and Paul Cornish with the headline "Blue Note strikes again." This marks his first performance in Korea, featuring the original members from the album in a trio format with Joshua Crumbly (bass) and Jonathan Pinson (drums), allowing audiences to experience firsthand the vibrant performances and energy of young musicians representing today's American jazz scene. From classical bebop reminiscent of bebop master Bud Powell and Thelonious Monk to post-bop creative jazz continuing the lineage of modern pianists such as Jason Moran and Robert Glasper, Paul Cornish Trio's first Korea performance will be an exceptional showcase of 21st century jazz pianism, adding his own unique artistic voice to Blue Note's great legacy while delivering lyrical yet powerful performances. [PAUL CORNISH INTRODUCTION] In 2023, he became a finalist in both the American Piano Awards and the Herbie Hancock International Jazz Piano Competition, winning third place. His young sensibility and flawless technique have been recognized through sessions with Joshua Redman, Louis Cole, Mark Guiliana, and others. At 29 years old, he already demonstrates the maturity of a master musician alongside the agility and creativity necessary for jazz interplay. He is a sophisticated pianist selected by Blue Note.
