[Performance Introduction]
"The warm consolation conveyed through music, blooming with hope and colored with love—a beautiful harmony"
On Sunday, December 6th at 5:00 PM, "The Symphony of Hope and Love" will be held at the Art Hall of Daejeon Arts Center. This performance brings together the 6th regular concert of the Veloce Philharmonic Orchestra, the 10th regular concert of the Poly Cantare Choir, and the 7th regular concert of the Angelus Choir into one combined regular concert, marking a meaningful occasion celebrating the 20th anniversary of the Poly Cantare Choir's founding. The Daejeon Choir will also participate to convey messages of hope and love through music. Announcer Kim Il-joong, a former SBS announcer currently hosting "Women's Era" on MBC Radio, will serve as the emcee, adding meaning and emotional resonance to the performance.
The first half of the concert begins with Buxtehude's "Cantate Domino, Canticum Novum" by the Poly Cantare and Angelus Choirs. The Daejeon Choir then presents the Korean compositions "Ivy" and "Let's Meet on the Day the First Snow Falls," followed by soprano Song Seung-yeon and mezzo-soprano Ryu Seong-hye performing a duet of "Barcarolle" from Offenbach's opera "The Tales of Hoffmann." The two choirs will then perform sacred music from the Renaissance and Romantic periods.
In the second half, the Veloce Philharmonic Orchestra, led by conductor Seo Mi-ae, will perform Mozart's "Divertimento in F Major, K. 138" and Holst's "St. Paul's Suite." The final performance will be a combined choir featuring Poly Cantare, Angelus, and the Daejeon Choir performing with the orchestra. Through Mozart's "Magnificat," Fauré's "Tantum Ergo," and Verdi's "Lacrymosa" from the Requiem, they will unfold a grand symphony created by choir and orchestra.
This concert, in which performing groups with different musical backgrounds and histories come together on one stage, will be a meaningful time to share the beauty of classical music along with the values of hope and love.
