[PERFORMANCE INTRODUCTION] This is a screening of Arts Center performances presented in video format, featuring the romantic comedy opera "Chunhyang's Escape" at the Bongnae Hall of Yeongdo Cultural Arts Center. "Chunhyang's Escape" is an opera that reinterprets the familiar story of Chunhyang through a modern lens, reimagining classical characters and weaving in contemporary narratives in fresh ways. It is a new generation tale of Chunhyang filled with humor and wit throughout that brings laughter to audiences. Rather than waiting in prison for Mongryong to come, Chunhyang sets out to find him herself. It doesn't matter if Mongryong fails the civil service exam. True love does not come from conditions. The old Chunhyang belongs only to the past! Today's Chunhyang actively takes responsibility for the love she has chosen. The work is characterized by its combination of pansori and classical literature foundations with the musical completeness of opera and theatrical comedy elements. It is structured so that audiences who find traditional narratives difficult can enjoy it without burden, and it is a work that can appeal familiarly even to those experiencing opera for the first time.
