Seoul Philharmonic Orchestra Choi Soo-yeol's Scriabin Symphony No. 4

[PROGRAM] Mozart, Piano Concerto No. 21 in C Major, K. 467 Lee Hanurij, new work *world premiere, commissioned by SPO Scriabin, Symphony No. 4 in C Major, Op. 54, 'Le Poème de l'extase' * Program and performers subject to change. Conductor Choi Su-yeol, who has maintained a continued relationship with the Seoul Philharmonic Orchestra since his time as associate conductor, takes the podium for a regular concert for the first time in five years since 2021. Australian pianist of South African origin Christian Bezuidenhout will perform as soloist, presenting Mozart's Piano Concerto No. 21. Following a collaboration with this Mozart specialist who demonstrates outstanding presence in the fortepiano performance field, Conductor Choi Su-yeol and the Seoul Philharmonic Orchestra leap across time periods toward the 20th and 21st centuries. Alongside a new work commissioned by the Seoul Philharmonic Orchestra from young composer Lee Hanurij (born 2006), the program will feature Scriabin's Symphony No. 4, 'Le Poème de l'extase.' Though titled a symphony, this work draws closer to a symphonic poem, in which the composer brilliantly expresses a yearning for change through mystical symphonic orchestral sonorities.
