[ABOUT THE EVENT]
A Korea-Japan-Macau Music Festival unfolds in Sinpo, where Western sounds first echoed through the history of Korea's port opening!
Incheon's Sinpo—a port of entry where Western culture and new sounds crossed the sea during Korea's opening to foreign trade. In this place that once served as the gateway to new music, the music of Korea, Japan, and Macau will meet again in September 2026.
Sinpo-dong (新浦洞), true to its name meaning "new port," was a "new harbor" through which new culture and civilization entered across the sea. It is a place rich with stories—where Western sounds first resonated in the history of Korea's opening to trade and where the origins of Korean popular music took root.
SINPO INTERNATIONAL MUSIC FESTIVAL (SIMF) originates from the sense of place and history that Sinpo holds. Just as seawater freely flowed in and out through the harbor, this festival brings together different cities, genres, and generations in one place through music—a borderless language. We aim to breathe new sound into the alleys and streets of Sinpo, where new culture once began.
The first SIMF brings together distinctive musicians representing Korea, Japan, and Macau. Japan's rockabilly icon JOHNNY PANDORA, the unstoppable punk-pop band KiNGONS, 首振りDolls with their theatrical raw performances, and AMULETS crossing the sea from Macau will visit Sinpo.
From Korea, artists including Gareeon, who has carried on hip-hop's legacy, along with STREETGUNS, DEFAULT., THE RESETERS, and dVID take the stage, with DJs of distinct musical colors joining to fill every moment of Sinpo's day.
Along with the music, you can enjoy craft beers from Incheon Brewery, a representative local brewery of Incheon. A special day where the history of an old trading port, today's music, the city's people, and local culture all blend together.
A three-nation music festival of Korea, Japan, and Macau unfolds in Sinpo, where Western sounds first echoed through the history of Korea's port opening.
September 5, 2026—the first wave of SIMF begins.
