It powerfully opens the curtain of the performance and delivers a profound sense of tension. Joseph Haydn, Symphony No. 104 in D major, Hob. I:104 "London" Haydn's final symphony showcases the perfection of the Classical symphony. The grand yet vibrant melodies convey the lively atmosphere of London. Intermission Felix Mendelssohn, Symphony No. 4 in A major, Op. 90 "Italian" Composed based on inspiration from Mendelssohn's travels through Italy, this work features bright, cheerful melodies and rich colors that vividly capture the warmth and charm of Southern Europe, providing a splendid finale to the performance.
