The Vine Hall Special Planning Concert: Katie George & Maria Kim [Jeonju]

[PERFORMANCE INTRODUCTION] Caity Gyorgy, a three-time JUNO Awards winner from Canada, and Maria Kim, a Korean Music Awards recipient, two world-class jazz vocalists, come together to visit Korea. The highlight of this performance goes beyond simply experiencing famous artists on one stage. While Maria Kim showcases delicate and lyrical music encompassing both piano and vocals, Caity Gyorgy presents vocalism and improvisation rooted in the energy of swing and bebop, creating a harmonious interplay of two distinct musical colors on a single stage. Though their musical backgrounds and modes of expression differ, both artists share the common ground of having developed their own contemporary musical language based on jazz traditions. This performance, bringing together Caity Gyorgy, a master of live performance who has captivated global jazz fans by reinterpreting authentic jazz with modern sensibility and has set social media ablaze with her talked-about scat technique, and Maria Kim, an emotional jazz vocalist whose refined sensibility and deep tone have earned acclaim from critics both domestically and internationally and has captivated Asia, will be an exceptionally special gift of a performance.
