[PERFORMANCE INTRODUCTION]
Hiroko Yamamura is a DJ and producer who has carried forward the legacy of Chicago techno through her artistry. Her sound, rooted in The Warehouse's heritage, mechanical sensibility, and straightforward techno energy, is validated by her recognition as one of XLR8R magazine's Chicago Top 10 DJs.
Exploration of technology is central to her sound. Fascinated not only by beats but also by the machines and structures that create them, her music is almost a tribute to every circuit, patch cable, and signal flow. Gothic and industrial roots along with punk DIY spirit permeate her work, while influences from classic science fiction and dark anime converge into her distinctive techno style.
A key figure in the Midwest rave scene through her work with Trax Records, Impact Mechanics, Apollo Music, and Detroit Sampled, Hiroko has performed at Detroit Movement Festival and travels between Berlin and Ibiza to spread Chicago techno worldwide. She currently serves as a resident at Spybar and Soundbar. Her techno, which simultaneously embodies jackin' grooves and sharp edges, vividly represents the present-day evolution of Chicago techno.
