[PERFORMANCE INTRODUCTION]
Refreshing free jazz drumming that bursts with energy.
Passionate performances that deliver overwhelming immersion.
Unpredictable and liberated improvisations at every moment.
On the final stage of YELLOW TAXI SUMMER FESTIVAL,
the Pil Yoon Group joins us—
a collective that has long upheld the Korean jazz scene.
Based on traditional jazz, the Pil Yoon Group freely navigates
complex mixed meters, odd time signatures, Latin rhythms,
and Korean melodic sensibilities,
creating uniquely dramatic music.
Drummer Pil Yoon
A Berkeley College of Music graduate and master's degree holder in Modern American Music from Longy School of Music (with highest honors),
he has performed at festivals including the Ikebukuro Jazz Festival, North Sumatra Jazz Festival,
and Jarasum Jazz Festival both domestically and internationally.
He is also a musician who has connected with audiences through EBS's
and Arte TV's .
His music has been selected multiple times for MM Jazz's Best Korean Jazz Albums,
and the album 'Straight Ahead,' led by Pil Yoon,
was recognized in jazz critic Hwang Duk-ho's selection of "8 Hard Bop Albums in Korean Jazz History."
On this YELLOW TAXI stage,
Pil Yoon on drums, Lim Seul-ki on piano, and Lee Byung-hun on bass
will perform together as a trio.
The music created by these three different musicians flows
sometimes with quiet resonance,
sometimes with explosive energy.
A time to be drawn into overwhelming immersion rather than dazzling spectacle.
At YELLOW TAXI, where the distance between performers and audience is closest,
experience the deep breath and intense groove of these three musicians
up close and more vividly.
The YELLOW TAXI SUMMER FESTIVAL that began on July 25th.
Six weeks of a heated summer with diverse music.
Now arrives that final night.
Join the Pil Yoon Group for the closing stage
of SUMMER FESTIVAL.
Good music lingers in the heart long after the performance ends.
We will create the final scene of this summer
at YELLOW TAXI.
